Greetings Hockey Fans!

Hello hockey fans and everyone else.

I wanted to start a blog about that wonderful grail of hockey, The Stanley Cup.

Now with the 2008 season coming to an end, (anybody else wonder if the Penguins can get back into it?), I wanted to take an indepth look at all the glory and dreams that have made the Cup into what it is.

Starting off where did the Cup come from?

The Stanley Cup came to reality back in 1892, when Lord Stanley Of Preston, the serving Govenor General of Canada at that time, donated what was known as the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup. 1893 is the first year the Cup was played for, and the cup was awarded to Canada's top-ranking amateur ice hockey club, The Montreal HC or sometime's referred to as Montreal AAA.
Each year after that it would continue to be given to the top-ranking hockey team.

Its quite easy to say that alot has changed since then. I can't wait to get into it.

Come back again soon as I post more stories and glories of the Stanley Cup!

Oh... one last thing... Go Penguins Go!
